Our B Corp Journey Continues With Recertification

When ustwo games first became a certified B Corp in 2021, we were proud to achieve a score of 97.9, comfortably above the 80 points required for certification. But, like any worthwhile journey, getting there was never really the end goal.

B Corp challenges businesses to keep learning, improving and thinking carefully about the impact they have on the people and world around them. So, when it was time to recertify in early 2025, we saw it as an opportunity to look at how far we’d come. And, importantly, where we could go next.

The assessment once again looked across Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers, examining how the choices we make as a business translate into meaningful impact.

This time, we achieved a score of 106.9, improving on our original certification and marking another important milestone in our B Corp journey.

We’re proud of that progress, but we’re not treating 106.9 as a final score. There’s always more to learn, more to improve and more we can do to make a positive difference, and that’s what the next stage of the journey is all about.

Looking ahead, we know there are areas where we can go further, particularly across Environment and Community, and we'll be exploring where we can make the most meaningful progress.

Our next recertification will take place in 2028, under B Corp's new standards. Between now and then, we'll be learning, adapting and putting those standards into practice, not just to make the recertification process as smooth as possible, but to keep raising the bar for the positive impact we can make.

Carbon Measurement (2024)

In 2025, ustwo games decided to focus on creating and implementing a Net Zero Strategy, so that we can achieve a carbon reduction in our operations overall.

As such, ustwo games commits to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with a 1.5°C warming scenario, demonstrating climate ambition that matches our values and industry leadership. In practice, this means the studio will pursue aggressive emissions reductions across all scopes, aiming to eliminate the vast majority of its carbon footprint well before 2050, with any remaining emissions neutralised through credible carbon removals.

By setting a potential 2040 net zero goal, ustwo games aspires to be ahead of the curve.

This net zero commitment will adhere to the frameworks of the SBTi Net-Zero Standard and Playing for the Planet requirements.

We used measurements from 2024 as our base year. Due to the fact it was the year we released Monument Valley 3, it was a great opportunity to see how ustwo games functioned during the run up to the launch of our largest IP. Our carbon footprint from 2024 was the result of our services used, like marketing, our contractors, our increased business travel and our growing headcount.

In Scope 3, the Use of Sold Products refers to the carbon footprint of people playing our games across devices, average playtime and estimated number of downloads. Although this is out of our direct operational control, it is still within ustwo games’ reporting. We will continue to work with the Playing For The Planet Alliance, alongside other games companies, to create a more energy efficient game design and hopefully bring this metric down.

In 2025, ustwo games had performed 15% better in terms of our Scope 1, 2 & 3 total score than in 2024, which is a great result. This reduction in carbon emissions mainly came from our purchased goods and services, business travel decreasing and a 100% reduction on capital goods.

To ensure we keep our carbon emissions low, and to keep on the trajectory of lowering our emissions, we will put in place the phase 1 of our Net Zero Strategy, which will continue up until 2028:

For 2026, we’ll continue with our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint using Phase 1 steps.

By fulfilling our Supplier Engagement form, our Green Travel Policy and Sustainable Procurement Policy, we can have a reduction of our carbon emission by 18%.

Partnerships

In 2025, we continued to partner with Ukie, Safe In Our World, and Women in Games  – organisations that align with our values of fostering a diverse, inclusive, and supportive games community. As a trade body Ukie enables industry growth and collaboration, while Safe In Our World plays a crucial role in raising mental health awareness, and Women in Games empowers and uplifts women in the industry.

This year we sponsored the Women in Games, Fizz and Cake event at Develop:Brighton. As passionate advocates for diversity and inclusion, we’re proud to support a space that celebrates and empowers women in the games industry. We had a fantastic day filled with inspiring talks, meaningful connections, and the opportunity to engage with exceptional talent from across the sector. It was a brilliant celebration of community, creativity, and the future of games.

Our Chief Creative Officer, Danny Gray, joined the Board of Trustees at Into Games, a UK charity working to make careers in games more accessible to people from all backgrounds. It’s a mission that closely reflects our own belief in creating a more inclusive and representative games industry. As a Trustee, Danny brings his experience of creative leadership and game development to help Into Games shape its future, support emerging talent and open up meaningful pathways into an industry that should be accessible to everyone.

Together, these partnerships help create a games industry and player environment that values diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing for everyone, and we're proud to contribute to these important initiatives.

Insights Discovery Training/Workshop

This year, the Insights Discovery Workshop with Conversations Space was held with participation across the wider ustwo games team. This was very well received across the company, providing employees with an opportunity to have open and honest discussions about their strengths, working styles, and approaches to collaboration. The workshop sparked meaningful conversations, helping colleagues to understand each other better and appreciate the diverse ways in which people contribute.

It also played an important role in building team engagement by encouraging active participation, collaboration, and open communication. Employees reported feeling more connected to one another, and the workshop fostered a supportive environment where different perspectives were valued. Overall, it was a highly positive experience, with employees appreciating the opportunity to reflect, share, and learn together, ultimately strengthening both individual and team dynamics.

Initiatives

We were proud to support a range of initiatives that brought our team together and created space for learning, reflection, and wellbeing. For Black History Month, we attended a performance of ‘First Woke War’ hosted by Hustle Crew, which sparked thoughtful conversations and encouraged deeper understanding around race and identity in the workplace. We also welcomed a POC in Play event in the studio, creating an opportunity to connect with and celebrate underrepresented talent within the games industry. Alongside this, our in-studio massages for Mental Health Month offered a moment of pause and care, reinforcing the importance of wellbeing at work.

In addition, the People Team held individual wellbeing check-ins with employees throughout the year. These one-to-one conversations created a safe space for open discussion, allowing us to better understand how people were feeling, identify any support needed, and proactively respond to challenges.

Together, these initiatives helped foster a more inclusive, supportive, and connected studio culture.

Gender Pay Gap Report for 2024 and 2025

We completed our Gender Pay Gap report for 2024 and 2025, even though our current headcount is below the threshold required to formally publish one. We felt it was important to carry out this analysis to understand our internal pay dynamics and ensure transparency within the company. Taking this proactive approach allows us to identify any disparities early, make informed decisions, and demonstrate our commitment to fairness, equity, and an inclusive workplace.

Intern to Perm

Although we didn’t run a formal internship programme in 2025, we were thrilled that one of the interns who joined us during the year has now been offered a permanent role. This is a fantastic outcome, as it shows how opportunities for growth and development can arise even outside structured programmes. It also highlights the value of spotting and nurturing talent early, supporting individuals as they build their skills, and reinforcing a culture where dedication and creativity are recognised and rewarded. Bringing this talent into a permanent position strengthens our team and ensures continuity, fresh perspectives, and long-term contributions to our studio’s objectives.

Policies:

We introduced the Neonatal Care Policy to make sure employees who need to take neonatal care leave have the right support and clear guidance around their leave and pay. It reflects our commitment to creating a supportive and people-focused culture, while making sure we meet the new legal requirements. At ustwo games, we want to build a culture where our people feel supported through important life events, and the policy helps reflect this.

We are looking to move from Leapsome to Humaans to streamline our performance management process, make it easier for managers and employees to use, and to bring the process into a single, more centralised platform. This will make the process more straightforward and accessible, supporting more effective performance conversations.
